Man and Women TherapyWe're pleased to offer services for a full range of mental health and relationship challenges that our clients may be experiencing. We also provide alternative forms of physical healing.

Mental Health:

We are trained to provide assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of all mental health disorders; including (but not limited to): Bipolar Disorder, Anxiety, Depression, ADD, ADHD, PTSD, Borderline Personality. We also work with victims of trauma, physical & sexual abuse, and individuals who experience chronic pain.

Sex Therapy:

Sexuality is one of the most exciting, mysterious, and confusing parts of a person's identity. The way we express ourselves sexually can be tinged with shame, fear, or anxiety based on our past experiences. We help individuals and couples understand their own beliefs concerning sex in a way that will then enable them to feel more free, secure, and connected in their sexual relationships.

Individual:

It's easy to get bogged down by stress, negative thought patterns, self-destructive behavior, and even depression & anxiety. Whether you're experiencing a clinical mental illness or just need help getting unstuck, we help our clients retrain their brains, practice more productive ways of thinking, and learn coping skills to help them handle the curve balls that life can throw.

LGBTQ Issues:

Evanescence Counseling promotes LGBTQ rights and awareness. We are here to help with the coming out process, issues at school or work, or within the family. We also offer guidance to those couples wishing to adopt a child or bring a child into the world by other means. We offer a range of services, experience, specializations, and expertise. Beyond serving as a resource for those seeking therapy, we see ourselves as having a role in fostering the well-being of the LGBTQ community.

Relationships:

Are you and your significant other struggling to understand one another? Do you often feel unappreciated, disconnected, or even disrespected? Is your child showing extreme signs of distress, disrespect and rebelling with a parent? We help to heal relationship wounds through identifying the root of the problem, looking at attachment history, building healthier communication tools, and fostering empathy for others. We work with people in a variety of relationships (romantic, non-monogamous, family, etc.).

Polyamory:

Not all romantic relationships involve just two people, and we strive to empower individuals in non-monogamous unions to make mindful decisions about their sexuality. Whether you are currently in a polyamorous relationship or have considered experimenting with one, Evanescence Counseling supports those who are seeking to determine if traditional monogamy is the choice for them, or if they'd like to try an alternative approach.

Premarital Counseling:

The decision to get married is one of the most important and far-reaching choices a couple can make. Preparing for a successful marriage can include developing a deeper understanding of your relationship and also insight into what each person is bringing to the table. Premarital counseling lasts between 6-10 weeks and covers such topics as issues related to the family of origin, compromising, the importance of patience & forgiveness, and negotiating one's independence.

 Group Therapy:

Sometimes, the best way to heal is to share our struggles with others in similar situations. Group therapy allows for individuals to come together and relate to one another's problems, offering support and solidarity with one another. Our groups include victims of childhood sexual abuse, as well as teenagers learning to take a stand and advocate for themselves in relationships.

Acupuncture:

Acupuncture is the gentle insertion and manipulation of very small solid needles into specific spots on the body known to help heal and alleviate certain conditions. Most patients report sensations of dull aches, tingling, heat or cold, fullness, or relaxation at the areas receiving acupuncture. Possible side effects are minor bleeding that stops quickly, short-term soreness, and minor bruising.

Chinese Herbs:

Most of western pharmaceutical medicine has an origin coming from the chemical makeup of plants and/or animals. Chinese herbal medicine is based on time-tested formulas derived from nature that are known to help heal and alleviate certain conditions with the proper combinations.

Tui Na, Cupping, and Gua Sha:

Tui Na is an effective form of therapeutic massage that is based in Chinese medical theory. Cupping and Gua Sha move stagnant blood and waste out of muscles and connective tissue to help alleviate pain in the body and regain mobility in sore, or tight joints.
